IMG_9655Oh how I love the Maldives! Love it, love it, love it. Sun, sleep, sand, sea, swim… What’s not to love!?

I also learned something new about myself. In the right conditions, I actually can sit still, very still - and even sleep all day! The Maldives was the perfect cure to my accumulating fatigue and possibly the complete destruction of any progress I made acclimating to the rigors of of longterm travel. But who cares. Risk accepted. Rest appreciated. Read more »

Minor Updates - Notes & Time Zones

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Just so ya know… I’m now using the “notes” section for posting quick updates. A link to it is on the side bar of the journal section. http://aimwondrously.com/wordpressnotes/
Brief where/what info when I don’t have time, creativity or patience for more. I won’t send out emails when I update this section. Mostly for all the mama types out there who just want to know that I’m okay!

Also updated the time zones in the journal sidebar. Hoping to keep that current as a where I am, where I’m going deal but not likely to happen… For the moment it’s correct though! ;)

Candyman Presents…

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

From a distance, time and place would have been impossible to name.

Growing Pains & Circus Games

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

IMG_9847Well… I debated even posting on this subject to avoid disappointing anyone I fooled into believing I’m a hardcore seasoned traveler. I know that’s not a large audience (it was probably just me), so I figure I’d throw my honesty out there. More importantly, things are already looking up. I’m looking back laughing and can happily finish on a positive note. Small Errands, Small Victory

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

* Backposted on 03-October-07

First day solo on the town. Our last three team members left in a cab at noon and I hitched a ride to the “main road” north of Bangalore, where the horns are honking and the smell of commerce exists. My goal was to procure a working local SIM card, since my attempt yesterday took a half an hour then failed. Honestly, getting out of the protective bubble of our hired car did put butterflies in my stomach. Time to wake up and pay attention to where I actually am in this world. Read more »

A Few Habitat Project Details

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

IMG_0092We worked on 4.5 houses in a remote village outside of Bangalore named Hosahalli.

When you enter the village, you first see the nicer homes. All brightly painted, fences, a car at a few homes, dogs that would pass as pets, trees here and there. Further down the main road, you turn right and enter an area called the “backwards community”, where lower income families live. Water flows at community taps, trash lines the gutters and ground, many homes with no toilets or electricity. This is primarily where we built. Read more »
